Darkbore Pathway // Slitherbore Pathway

Darkbore Pathway // Slitherbore Pathway was released in early 2021 as part of the Kaldheim expansion for Magic: The Gathering. It belongs to a cycle of double-faced rare land cards that allow players to choose between two colors of mana upon playing them, reflecting the set's thematic emphasis on the dual nature of the Norse-inspired realms. The card provides flexibility for decks running black and green mana, a color combination traditionally associated with the Golgari guild's themes of decay and regrowth.

The artwork for this dual-sided card was created by artist Johannes Voss, who utilized the set's harsh, wintry aesthetic to define the landscape. Voss focused on depicting the jagged, subterranean environment of the plane, aiming to evoke a sense of perilous exploration through deep, dark tunnels. The design was well-received by players for its utility in competitive formats, as the ability to fix mana early in a game without sacrificing life totals or speed remains a highly valued mechanic in deck construction.
