Darkpact

Darkpact was originally printed in the 1994 Magic: The Gathering expansion, Summer Magic, also known as Edgar. This set was a limited promotional release intended to correct printing errors found in the earlier Revised Edition, featuring updated card text and improved color saturation. Due to a series of distribution mishaps and a massive recall, only a fraction of the intended inventory reached the public, resulting in it becoming one of the most elusive and sought-after sets in the game's history.

The card features an illustration by Dan Frazier, a prominent artist from the early days of the game who contributed to the original Alpha set. His design for Darkpact captures the grim, ritualistic nature of the black mana faction, favoring a stark and moody aesthetic that became a hallmark of early Magic art. While the card itself is mechanically straightforward, its association with the notoriously rare Summer Magic set has cemented its status as a significant piece of trading card history.
