Dauthi Voidwalker

Dauthi Voidwalker was introduced in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Modern Horizons 2, a product specifically designed for the Modern format that features cards tailored for high-level competitive play. The creature represents the Dauthi, a race of shadow-dwellers from the Rath plane, originally appearing in the 1997 Tempest expansion. This iteration was created to provide a powerful, efficient threat for black decks, functioning as both a disruption tool against graveyard-based strategies and a potential source of card advantage by allowing players to cast their opponents' exiled cards.

The card's striking visual identity was crafted by artist Volkan Baga, who utilized a dramatic, high-contrast aesthetic to capture the ethereal and phasing nature of the Dauthi. By leaning into the character's shadowy, translucent appearance, the artwork emphasizes the creature's gameplay function as a spectral entity that exists between realms. Upon its release, the card received significant acclaim from the player base for its versatility and impact on the competitive meta, quickly establishing itself as a staple within the format.
