Where it came from
The Demon token, numbered 18 in the March of the Machine Commander set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. As a token card, it serves as a visual representation of a game state element created by various spells and abilities within the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It features a standardized 6/6 power and toughness profile with flying, consistent with the classic mechanical identity of Demons in the game's long-running history.
The artwork for this token reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the March of the Machine expansion, which depicted the culmination of a multiverse-spanning conflict. The design emphasizes the iconic, menacing silhouette of a demonic entity, utilizing the stark, dramatic lighting typical of the set's token suite. It was intended to be a functional, visually distinct aid for players managing the board state during gameplay, meeting the expectation for polished, thematic illustrations in contemporary set releases.
