Knight

The Knight token, identified as number 7 in the March of the Machine Commander Tokens set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. This token was designed to support the mechanics introduced in the March of the Machine expansion, which focused on a multiversal invasion and the alliance between disparate factions. Its inclusion in the Commander preconstructed decks served as a functional necessity for gameplay, allowing players to represent specific battlefield states created by cards like Adeline, Resplendent Cathar or various other knight-producing spells.

The visual aesthetic of this token reflects the high-fantasy art style consistent with the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, emphasizing the armored, heroic iconography associated with the knight creature type. While the artwork for such tokens is often commissioned from freelance illustrators to fit the set's broader art direction, these utility pieces are intended to remain clear and recognizable during the fast-paced flow of a Commander game. Like other tokens in this set, it acts as a ephemeral component of the game experience, valued primarily for its utility rather than its status as a collectible card.
