Where it came from
The Sliver token was released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine Commander set. These tokens are used in Magic: The Gathering to represent the unique, hive-mind creatures known as Slivers, which originally debuted in the Tempest expansion. The token was designed to support gameplay mechanics that generate copies or variants of these creatures, serving as a functional utility piece for players running Sliver-themed decks in the Commander format.
The visual design features a creature consistent with the classic Sliver aesthetic, characterized by a sleek, otherworldly morphology and a singular, jagged head structure. As is standard for modern Magic token design, the artwork focuses on clarity and recognizability during gameplay, adhering to the established visual identity that Wizards of the Coast has cultivated for the creature type since the late 1990s.
