Provenance

Where it came from

The Demon token was released as part of the Conspiracy: Take the Crown expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2016. These tokens were designed to represent the persistent board presence of specific cards within the set, such as Liliana, the Last Hope, which creates a 2/2 black Zombie creature token or utilizes other black mana-based mechanics common in the set's draft-focused gameplay.

The artistic direction for these tokens emphasizes the gothic and malevolent aesthetic synonymous with the plane of Fiora, where the Conspiracy expansion is set. These tokens were produced by Wizards of the Coast to provide functional, uniform gameplay aids, featuring illustrative styles that mirror the darker, more conspiratorial tone of the set's unique drafting mechanics.
