Provenance

Where it came from

Direct Current was originally introduced in the Ravnica: City of Guilds set in 2008 and was later included as card number 132 in the Ravnica: Clue Edition, released in 2024. This specific edition was designed to integrate the mechanics and aesthetic of the Clue board game into the existing Magic: The Gathering ecosystem, blending the high-fantasy urban sprawl of Ravnica with classic mystery-themed gameplay elements.

The card features artwork by Johannes Voss, whose contributions to the set aim to emphasize the volatile, kinetic energy associated with the Izzet League. The visual design reflects the guild's penchant for chaotic experimentation and lightning-based magic, adhering to the established red-color identity of the card while serving as a functional piece of removal for players navigating the Clue Edition draft environment.
