Where it came from
Diplomatic Relations is a card from the Edge of Eternities expansion, a set centered on the complex intersection of interstellar politics and shifting galactic alliances. Released to deepen the mechanical focus on non-combat interactions and resource diplomacy, the card was designed to offer players a strategic tool for mitigating conflict through calculated negotiation rather than brute force.
The visual design for the card was helmed by the set's lead illustrators, who aimed to evoke a sense of high-stakes tension within a sterile, formal setting. By utilizing a minimalist color palette and sharp architectural lines, the artwork emphasizes the isolation and gravity of the summit depicted. Upon its release, the card was noted by the community for its thematic cohesion and its influence on the game's evolving meta-game, where control-oriented playstyles were gaining significant traction.
