Provenance

Where it came from

The Jumpstart 2022 set was released by Wizards of the Coast as a standalone expansion designed to facilitate a quick, shuffle-and-play experience. The Dragons front card serves as the thematic anchor for one of the set's randomized deck packets, intended to introduce players to the iconic high-flying creatures that have been a cornerstone of Magic: The Gathering since its inception in 1993.

The artistic direction for this series emphasized vibrant, modern aesthetics to distinguish it from traditional set releases. The illustration for the Dragons theme reflects the game's shift toward stylized, dynamic character portraits, aiming to evoke the power and majesty associated with dragon-kind in fantasy literature, a design choice that was well-received by players looking for visually striking additions to their collections.
