Drifting Meadow

Drifting Meadow was originally released in the Commander 2015 set, part of an annual series of preconstructed decks by Wizards of the Coast designed specifically for the Commander format. First introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card pool in the Urza's Saga expansion in 1998, this land card features the 'cycling' mechanic, allowing players to discard it to draw a new card if it is not needed in the current board state. Its inclusion in the 2015 product helped stabilize mana bases for multi-color decks, providing a functional utility land that rewards strategic card selection.

The card’s illustration is credited to artist John Avon, a prolific and celebrated creator within the Magic: The Gathering universe known for his serene and expansive landscape work. Avon’s design for Drifting Meadow captures an ethereal, tranquil horizon, aligning with the mechanical intent of a land that provides both mana and a sense of movement. The artwork has been well-received by players for its atmospheric quality, and it remains a representative example of the aesthetic standards for basic land-adjacent utility cards during that era.
