Polluted Mire

Polluted Mire was originally introduced in the Urza's Destiny set in 1999 as part of a cycle of lands that entered the battlefield tapped and provided two mana of specific colors upon cycling. The version from Commander 2015, illustrated by Stephen Daniele, maintains the mechanical identity of this utility land, which was designed to offer players late-game flexibility by allowing them to discard the card for a new draw if the mana source was no longer required.

Stephen Daniele’s interpretation of the landscape emphasizes the atmospheric and somewhat decaying aesthetic associated with the 'cycling' lands, which are frequently depicted as blighted or swampy terrains. This specific reprinting in the 2015 Commander series sought to provide players with accessible, functional mana bases for multi-colored decks, a common priority for Wizards of the Coast when designing preconstructed products to ensure a smooth gameplay experience for casual formats.
