Duelist's Heritage

Duelist's Heritage was released in 2022 as part of the New Capenna Commander set, a collection themed around the jazz-age, art deco aesthetics of a metropolis controlled by five distinct demonic crime families. The card serves as a reprint of a support enchantment originally debuted in the Commander 2016 expansion, designed to enhance combat-oriented strategies by allowing creatures to gain double strike when they attack an opponent who is already under assault. By reissuing the card within the context of New Capenna, the developers integrated its mechanical utility into a setting that emphasizes political maneuvering and tactical aggression.

The art featured on this specific version of the card maintains the structural elegance associated with the New Capenna style, emphasizing architectural grandeur and the polished, decadent atmosphere of the city. As a functional staple in the Commander format, the card is frequently sought after by players looking to bolster damage output in multiplayer environments. Its inclusion in the set was received as a practical update, ensuring that thematic decks built around the set's unique mechanics had access to reliable combat multipliers that fit the established design philosophy of high-impact enchantments.
