Where it came from
Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire was introduced in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering expansion Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. As a legendary land card, it represents the heart of the Eiganjo castle, a location central to the lore of the Kamigawa plane. This specific version features unique borderless Ukiyo-e inspired artwork, a design choice intended to pay homage to the traditional Japanese woodblock prints that define the aesthetic of the Kamigawa setting.
The art for this promo variant was created by artist Alayna Danner. Her approach was to blend the futuristic, high-tech neon landscape of the set with the historic, grounded architectural roots of the Empire. The card was well-received by players and collectors alike, becoming highly sought after for both its powerful gameplay utility and its visually striking, culturally resonant illustration.
