Eldrazi Scion

The Eldrazi Scion token is a creature card introduced in the Magic: The Gathering set Double Masters 2022. It represents the colorless, hive-minded entities from the plane of Zendikar, designed to serve as functional game pieces for mechanics that generate temporary creature resources. These tokens were created to support cards that allow players to sacrifice them for mana, reflecting the parasitic and consuming nature of the Eldrazi brood.

The visual design for this specific 2022 iteration emphasizes the biomechanical, surreal aesthetic characteristic of the Eldrazi. Illustrators tasked with the Eldrazi concept often focus on angular, otherworldly geometry and an unsettling lack of traditional anatomical features. Upon its release, this token was well-received by the player base for its clean layout and cohesive art style, which helped maintain immersion during gameplay sessions involving complex token-heavy deck strategies.
