Eldrazi Spawn

The Eldrazi Spawn token first appeared during the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Rise of the Eldrazi. It was created to represent the expendable, sacrificeable creatures generated by various Eldrazi spells and permanents. These tokens were designed to embody the alien, otherworldly aesthetic of the Eldrazi, emphasizing their role as a swarm-like threat that players could use as resources to fuel more powerful manifestations.

The specific version found in 'The List' is a reprint that maintains the original design intent, reflecting the game's evolution of token aesthetics. While tokens were once printed on thinner cardstock or included in boosters as secondary advertisements, the inclusion of classic tokens within 'The List'—a curated selection of cards from throughout Magic's history inserted into modern booster packs—speaks to the enduring design legacy of the Zendikar plane and the iconic nature of the Eldrazi as a recurring mechanical threat.
