Eldrazi Spawn

The Eldrazi Spawn token was released as part of the Commander 2017 token set, a collection of supplemental cards designed to support the various multi-colored deck themes introduced that year. These tokens represent the parasitic, otherworldly offspring of the Eldrazi, the colorless antagonists central to the lore of the Zendikar plane. They were specifically created to facilitate the gameplay mechanics of certain cards that produce temporary, sacrificeable units, allowing players to bridge their mana gaps during complex multiplayer sessions.

The visual design of the token adheres to the established aesthetic of the Eldrazi brood, characterized by alien biology and a muted, unsettling color palette intended to evoke themes of cosmic horror. While tokens like this one serve as functional components of the game rather than traditional illustrated collectibles, they remain highly regarded for their consistency with the overarching narrative and artistic direction established by Wizards of the Coast for the Eldrazi entities since their inception.
