What it does
Whenever another creature enters, you may stand up and say in a deep, booming voice, "Presenting . . . " and that creature's name. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature.
The ogre appealed the match loss and got it downgraded to a warning.

Where it came from
Emcee was released in 2004 as part of the Unhinged expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was the second in the game's series of 'silver-bordered' or 'un-sets,' which were designed by Wizards of the Coast to prioritize humor and experimental mechanics that would not be permitted in standard tournament play. The set aimed to celebrate the lighter side of the game, encouraging social interaction and unconventional card interactions that often broke the traditional rules of play.
The card was illustrated by Matt Cavotta, who frequently contributed to the game's aesthetic during this era. The design of Emcee serves as a meta-commentary on the player experience, specifically mocking the tendency of some players to offer unsolicited strategic advice to their opponents during a game. By allowing a player to actively narrate the match through a specific ability, the design leans into the performative nature of casual games, reflecting the lighthearted, self-referential tone that characterized the entire Unhinged project.
