Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder // Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder

Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder first appeared in the 2006 Magic: The Gathering set Coldsnap, depicting a tragic figure from the lore of Dominaria. The character serves as the primary antagonist of the novel The Eternal Ice, where he is portrayed as a desperate, corrupted researcher attempting to use necromancy to save his people from a failing environment, ultimately losing his mind to his own creations. The original card design emphasized his role as a creator of Thrulls, a thematic mechanical identity that has remained central to the character in subsequent reprints.

This particular version from the Commander Masters Art Series focuses on the aesthetic presentation of the character. The Art Series cards are oversized, borderless prints designed specifically for collectors and enthusiasts to appreciate the creature's illustration without the distraction of game text. By isolating the artwork, these cards highlight the stylistic choices of the illustrators who interpret the grim, gothic horror aesthetic inherent to the Thrull-master's narrative, providing a dedicated format for showcasing the visual evolution of the character.
