Where it came from
Etali, Primal Storm was first introduced in the 2018 set Rivals of Ixalan, representing a massive, spell-casting elder dinosaur from the plane of Ixalan. The character quickly became a fan favorite for its chaotic, high-impact gameplay that allowed players to cast free spells from the top of their opponents' libraries, embodying the aggressive and primal nature of the set's dinosaur faction.
The Secret Lair version featuring collector number 1389★ was released as part of a curated drop series. This specific iteration utilizes unique, stylized artwork designed to distinguish it from the original printing. These limited-run drops are intended for collectors who appreciate alternative aesthetic interpretations of iconic Magic: The Gathering creatures, often utilizing experimental artistic styles that deviate from the traditional fantasy illustrations found in standard booster sets.
