Etali, Primal Storm

Etali, Primal Storm was originally introduced to the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem in the Rivals of Ixalan set in 2018. The character is depicted as a massive, legendary Elder Dinosaur hailing from the plane of Ixalan, a world defined by its Mesoamerican-inspired aesthetics and fierce factional conflicts. This specific version was reprinted in the Commander 2021 product line, which featured preconstructed decks themed around the complex multiplayer format that has become a cornerstone of the game's social culture.

The card was illustrated by Chris Rahn, an artist known for his dramatic and high-fantasy style within the game. Rahn's design emphasizes the creature's immense scale and its chaotic, storm-like nature, utilizing vibrant colors to capture the energy of its ability to cast spells from the libraries of opponents. Upon its release, the card became a staple in the Commander format, favored by players for its high-impact, unpredictable gameplay, solidifying its reputation as one of the most recognizable legendary creatures from the modern era of the game.
