Evolving Wilds

Evolving Wilds is a utility land card that first appeared in the Rise of the Eldrazi set in 2010. Its primary function is to allow players to search their library for a basic land card, effectively thinning the deck and fixing mana color requirements. It has become a staple of Magic: The Gathering, frequently reprinted in both core sets and specialized expansions to ensure accessibility for players across various formats, particularly in limited play environments where mana consistency is challenging to achieve.

The version from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, illustrated by Alayna Danner, was designed to fit the thematic aesthetic of the Dungeons & Dragons crossover set. Danner utilized a traditional fantasy art style to capture the untamed, rugged nature of the wild landscapes depicted in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. The card was well-received by the player base for its functional reliability and the atmospheric flavor text that grounds the card within the lore of the source material.
