Evolving Wilds

Evolving Wilds first appeared in the Rise of the Eldrazi set in 2010, designed as a foundational utility land for the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. Its purpose is to allow players to search their library for a basic land, facilitating color fixing in deck construction. By the time this specific version was released in the 2022 Dominaria United Commander set, the card had become a staple of the game, valued for its reliability and its ability to trigger Landfall effects or thin the library of redundant lands.

The artwork for the Dominaria United Commander printing maintains the traditional, atmospheric depiction of a shifting, untamed landscape that has defined the card's visual identity for over a decade. Artists contributing to the series have consistently sought to capture the sense of an evolving geography, with the card serving as a functional bridge between the player's mana base and the more complex board states found in the Commander format. It remains one of the most widely reprinted and utilized common lands in the history of the game due to its accessible design.
