Provenance

Where it came from

The Eye of Ugin was originally introduced in the 2009 Magic: The Gathering set Worldwake, designed as a legendary land representing the prison of the Eldrazi titans. Its unique ability to search for colorless creatures defined the landscape of several competitive formats, most notably in the Modern 'Tron' decks. The card is steeped in the lore of Zendikar, depicting the site where the planeswalker Ugin sought to contain the ancient, world-consuming entities.

The 2020 Judge Gift version features artwork by Daniel Ljunggren, who brought a sharp, crystalline aesthetic to the depiction of the landmark. This specific printing was created as a high-value promotional reward for members of the Magic Judge Program, intended to recognize their contributions to the community. Like many high-rarity Judge promos, it is characterized by the distinct card frame and specialized foil treatment that separates it from standard set releases.
