Feed the Swarm

Feed the Swarm is a black sorcery card originally introduced in the Zendikar Rising expansion before being reprinted in the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set in 2022. Designed for the Commander format, it provides a rare utility for black decks, which traditionally struggle to interact with enchantments. By requiring the player to lose life equal to the converted mana cost of the target, the card balances its potent board-clearing effect with a classic thematic cost associated with black mana.

The artwork for this particular printing was illustrated by Andrey Kuzinskiy. The visual design depicts a swarm of insectoid creatures overwhelming a victim, emphasizing the destructive and parasitic nature of black magic. Within the Baldur's Gate context, the card reflects the chaotic and dangerous atmosphere of the Dungeons & Dragons setting, serving as a functional tool for players to remove threats that would otherwise remain untouchable by standard black removal spells.
