What it does
Create a 1/1 red Dinosaur creature token with haste and a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token.
The two looked at each other, and neither fled. "I see," the soldier murmured. "We're both just fighting for survival out here, aren't we?"

Where it came from
Forbidden Friendship was released in 2020 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. The set was designed to explore themes of giant monsters and their bonds with humans, drawing inspiration from the kaiju genre and monster-taming media. This card was crafted as a sorcery that generates creature tokens, mechanically representing the thematic partnership between a human and a beast within the plane's unique ecosystem.
The artwork for this piece was created by illustrator Matt Stewart, who sought to capture a moment of peaceful interaction between a monstrous creature and a human companion. Stewart utilized a warm, soft color palette to emphasize the emotional core of the image, distancing it from the more aggressive creature designs common in the set. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its efficient utility in the game's draft and constructed formats.
