What it does
Create a 1/1 red Dinosaur creature token with haste and a 1/1 white Human Soldier creature token.
The two looked at each other, and neither fled. "I see," the soldier murmured. "We're both just fighting for survival out here, aren't we?"

Where it came from
Forbidden Friendship was released in 2020 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. The set was designed around themes of monstrous evolution and the deep, often symbiotic bonds between humans and the colossal beasts that dominate the plane of Ikoria. This specific card, an uncommon sorcery, serves as a narrative piece highlighting the set's central philosophy of cooperation between species, visually depicting a human child interacting with a dangerous creature.
The artwork was illustrated by Jason Rainville, who was tasked with capturing the emotional core of the expansion's lore. Rainville focused on a softer, narrative-driven aesthetic that contrasted with the more aggressive designs featured elsewhere in the set. Upon its release, players recognized it as an efficient tool for early-game board presence, praised for both its functional utility in red-white color archetypes and its contribution to the evocative world-building of the Ikoria plane.
