Forgotten Cave

Forgotten Cave was originally introduced in the Judgement expansion set in 2002, designed as part of a cycle of lands that utilized the cycling mechanic to provide utility in the late game. This specific version was reprinted for the 2007 Duel Decks: Elves vs. Goblins, a product designed to introduce players to the game through two pre-constructed decks that highlighted iconic tribal archetypes. The artwork for this printing retains the established aesthetic of the card, capturing the desolate, cavernous atmosphere intended to reflect the card's functional role in mana-smoothing.

The art for this iteration is credited to Anthony S. Waters, whose work frequently defined the environmental look of the game during this era. His design for the card focuses on the cavern's isolation, utilizing deep shadows and rocky textures to evoke the flavor of a place where a player might discard their mundane resources in exchange for fresh strategic options. The card was well-received as a utility land, often praised for its versatility in allowing players to cycle away a redundant resource when mana was no longer the primary bottleneck.
