Provenance

Where it came from

Fortune, Loyal Steed was released as part of the Outlaws of Thunder Junction set in 2024, designed to capture the flavor of a Western-themed plane within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The card features a mount creature type, reflecting the set's mechanical focus on synergy between riders and their steeds during high-stakes heists and desert skirmishes.

The card was illustrated by Colin Boyer, whose work emphasizes the bond between the character and their animal companion. As a rare inclusion in the set, the design aims to provide utility for aggressive decks by allowing players to mount the creature and trigger effects that draw cards, balancing mechanical function with the archetypal imagery of a faithful frontier partner.
