Where it came from
Fortune, Loyal Steed was released as part of the promotional offerings for the 2024 Magic: The Gathering set, Outlaws of Thunder Junction. The set represents a thematic departure for the game, shifting toward a fantasy-Western aesthetic that explores the multiverse's lawless frontiers. As a card within the promo cycle, this specific iteration features unique border treatments and art styles intended to evoke the classic, rugged storytelling of the American West.
The character of Fortune is presented as a loyal mount, designed to fit the mechanical archetype of a desert outlaw's trusted companion. The artwork emphasizes the camaraderie between rider and steed, utilizing a stylistic palette consistent with the set's high-noon, sun-drenched atmosphere. It was received as a functional and narrative-driven addition to the set's roster, appealing specifically to collectors who favor thematic cohesion and the specialized aesthetic markers associated with the Thunder Junction expansion.
