Garth One-Eye // Garth One-Eye

Garth One-Eye was originally released in the 2021 Modern Horizons 2 set, serving as a homage to the classic Arena novel character and one of the earliest legendary creatures in Magic: The Gathering history. This specific card belongs to the Art Series, a promotional sub-line designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the game by featuring high-resolution, borderless artwork on the front and artist information on the back, specifically omitting the frame and text elements that define standard gameplay cards.

The illustration for this card was crafted by artist Volkan Baga, who is celebrated for his sophisticated, painterly approach to fantasy tropes. By distilling Garth One-Eye into a singular, large-scale visual piece, the Art Series seeks to elevate the aesthetic appreciation of card art, moving it away from its functional tabletop context to present it as a standalone collectible image. It was received by the community as a bridge between the deep, archival lore of the 1990s and the modern, high-fidelity visual standards of contemporary digital painting.
