Provenance

Where it came from

Gods Willing is a reprint card featured in the Strixhaven: School of Mages Mystical Archive, a special subset of 63 iconic instant and sorcery spells from Magic: The Gathering's history. Released in 2021, the archive was designed to showcase these classic spells with unique, region-specific artistic styles, drawing inspiration from global lore and academic aesthetics to fit the setting of Strixhaven University.

The art for this version of Gods Willing was illustrated by Yohann Schepacz. The visual direction focuses on the themes of divine protection and celestial intervention, utilizing a distinct, stylized approach that differentiates it from the card's original appearance. Upon its release, the Mystical Archive received positive reception from players for its high artistic quality and the inclusion of powerful, tournament-tested spells within a new, decorative frame.
