Green Ward

Green Ward was released as part of the Collectors' Edition set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set, published in 1993, was a limited print run designed for the international market, intended to provide players outside of North America with access to the cards found in the original Alpha and Beta core sets. It is distinguished by its white borders and a unique, non-glossy card stock that differs from the primary printings of the era.

The card features artwork by Dan Frazier, who contributed significantly to the aesthetic of the early game. His illustration for Green Ward reflects the high-fantasy style common to the game's formative period, depicting a protective magical enchantment. As a card that provides damage prevention for specific creatures, it exemplifies the mechanical focus on defensive utility and color-specific themes that defined the game's initial design philosophy.
