Green Ward

Green Ward was released as part of the Summer Magic set, colloquially known as Edgar, in 1994. This set was a limited-run promotional reprint of selected cards from the Revised Edition of Magic: The Gathering, intended primarily for the Mexican market. It is distinguished from standard Revised cards by its slightly more saturated color palette and a specific matte card stock that differs from the glossy finish typical of Wizards of the Coast products from that era.

The card's design features the artwork of Anson Maddocks, one of the original illustrators for the game. Like many cards from this era, the design reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic established in the early 1990s, focusing on thematic spells that provide mechanical protection within the game's rules. While Summer Magic was initially criticized for its scarcity and regional distribution, it has since become a sought-after curiosity for collectors interested in the production history and regional variances of early Magic sets.
