Where it came from
Harness Infinity was released in 2021 as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set focuses on the titular university for mages, organized into five distinct colleges each representing a different two-color philosophy. Harness Infinity is aligned with the Quandrix college, which emphasizes mathematics, fractals, and the manipulation of natural laws.
The card features artwork by artist Magali Villeneuve, who has contributed to numerous high-profile projects within the game. Her design for this sorcery card aims to capture the abstract and recursive nature of Quandrix magic, blending mathematical precision with the fluid, arcane aesthetic characteristic of the Strixhaven plane. Upon its debut, the card was noted for its high mana cost and its potential for high-impact effects in Commander and other casual formats, where players value cards that can dramatically refill one's resources.
