Where it came from
Hedron Fields of Agadeem was released as part of the Planechase 2012 set, a supplemental product designed to enhance the multiplayer Planechase format. This card represents the plane of Zendikar, a world defined by its volatile landscape and the massive stone monoliths known as hedrons. Within the game's lore, the fields of Agadeem are a nexus of death and rebirth, reflecting the set's thematic focus on planar environments that dictate the rules of engagement for players.
The artwork for this card was created by illustrator Veronique Meunier, who captured the haunting, ethereal nature of Zendikar’s geography. The design features the iconic, jagged geometry of the hedrons silhouetted against a somber, mystical backdrop. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its atmospheric aesthetic, which effectively translated the visual language of the Zendikar expansion into the oversized card format required for Planechase gameplay.
