Huatli, Radiant Champion Emblem

The Huatli, Radiant Champion emblem originated in the 2018 Magic: The Gathering expansion Rivals of Ixalan. It was designed to represent the ultimate loyalty ability of the planeswalker Huatli, Radiant Champion, a card that emphasized the mechanical themes of the Ixalan block: tribal synergy and the aggressive expansion of one's board state. In the game's rules, emblems are not cards that exist within a deck, but rather markers created by a planeswalker's ability to signify a persistent effect that cannot be removed by traditional interaction.

The visual design of the emblem features the distinctive aesthetic of the Ixalan setting, which draws heavily from Mesoamerican motifs and the iconography of the Sun Empire. While the illustration maintains the cohesion of the set's art direction, these tokens were produced as standalone supplemental materials for players to track their gameplay status during tournaments. Because they are not technically cards that can be added to a deck list, they are considered by collectors to be functional ephemera rather than standard game pieces.
