Where it came from
Incarnation Technique was released in 2021 as part of the Prismari Performance deck for the Commander 2021 set. This set was designed to complement the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, focusing on the five colleges of the magical university. The card was crafted to embody the expressive, chaotic, and high-impact style of the Prismari college, which emphasizes the fusion of elemental magic and artistic performance.
The card features artwork by Wisnu Tan, who captured the dramatic, sweeping energy thematic to the Prismari aesthetic. Its design mechanics revolve around the 'Learn' and 'Magecraft' keywords prominent in the set, allowing players to bridge the gap between their graveyard and the battlefield. Upon its release, it was well-received by the Commander community for its utility in graveyard-focused strategies and its ability to facilitate sudden, turn-shifting plays.
