Where it came from
Incubation // Incongruity is a split card originally appearing in the Ravnica Allegiance set, reimagined for the Ravnica: Clue Edition. The card captures the dual nature of Simic Guild magic on the plane of Ravnica, where biological evolution is pushed to its experimental limits. This iteration was released in 2024 as part of a crossover product designed to blend Magic: The Gathering gameplay with the mechanics and atmosphere of the classic murder mystery game Clue.
The card features artwork that reflects the distinctive aesthetic of the Simic Combine, emphasizing the intersection of natural biology and artificial enhancement. The design process for these crossover cards aimed to maintain the mechanical identity of the original spell—Incubation providing creature selection and Incongruity offering bounce interaction—while integrating the visual motifs found within the Ravnica-themed Clue setting. It serves as both a functional utility piece in deck construction and a thematic bridge between two popular tabletop properties.
