Where it came from
Infest was originally featured in the Magic Player Rewards 2010 program as a promotional card. These rewards were distributed by Wizards of the Coast to active participants in official tournament play, serving as an incentive to encourage consistent engagement with the game. This specific version features alternate art, setting it apart from its original appearance in the Scourge expansion.
The illustration for this iteration was created by Kev Walker, a prolific artist known for his dark and gritty aesthetic. Walker’s depiction focuses on the card’s mechanical identity—a wide-reaching, lethal plague—utilizing his signature style to convey a sense of dread and decay. The card was well-received by players for its functional utility in competitive formats and its status as a sought-after aesthetic upgrade for black-aligned control decks.
