Where it came from
Infinite Reflection was released in May 2012 as part of the Avacyn Restored expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set focused on the gothic horror plane of Innistrad, specifically centering on the liberation of the archangel Avacyn. This card was designed as a blue enchantment to reflect the set's themes of transformation and the overwhelming nature of the angelic influence returning to the world.
The artwork for the card was created by Aleksi Briclot, a prolific fantasy illustrator known for his work in defining the visual language of the modern Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Briclot utilized a surreal, ethereal aesthetic to capture the mechanical function of the card, which forces creatures on the battlefield to mirror one another, emphasizing the chaotic and repetitive nature of the reflection spell.
