Inga Rune-Eyes // Inga Rune-Eyes

Inga Rune-Eyes was released as part of the Kaldheim Art Series in 2021, a collection designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These cards are oversized, borderless versions of the original game cards, specifically formatted to showcase the intricate, flavor-rich artwork that defines the Kaldheim plane, which draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology and Viking aesthetic sensibilities.

The artwork for this specific card was commissioned by Wizards of the Coast and brought to life by artist Magali Villeneuve, a prominent name in the fantasy art community known for her expressive, character-driven style. Her portrayal of Inga seeks to capture the chilling, mystical nature of the seer, emphasizing the crystalline, rune-marked eyes that give the character her name. Upon release, the set was well-received by collectors who sought to appreciate the high-resolution detail of the illustrations without the distraction of standard game text.
