Where it came from
Inquisitor Greyfax was released as part of the Warhammer 40,000 Commander set for Magic: The Gathering, a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop. The card represents the Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Katarinya Greyfax, a prominent character from the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop universe. Her inclusion in this set was intended to bridge the narrative aesthetics of the Imperium of Man with the mechanics of Magic: The Gathering, specifically highlighting her role as a seeker of heresy and a powerful psycher.
The card illustration was executed by artist Games Workshop, adhering to the established grimdark aesthetic characteristic of the 41st millennium. Greyfax is depicted in her iconic inquisitorial power armor with her signature psycho-skull and psycannon. The design aimed to capture her stern, uncompromising nature, and the card was received as a flavorful addition to the set, effectively translating her tabletop tabletop abilities—such as her ability to lockdown and suppress enemies—into the rules framework of a Commander deck.
