Where it came from
Inquisitor Greyfax was introduced as a legendary creature card in the 2022 Warhammer 40,000 Commander set, a collaborative project between Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop. This deck series marked the first time the Magic: The Gathering 'Universes Beyond' initiative fully integrated the lore and aesthetic of the Warhammer 40,000 universe into the format, aimed at bridging the gap between tabletop strategy gaming and collectible card games.
The card art depicts Katarinya Greyfax, a prominent Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor known for her stern adherence to the Emperor of Mankind. The design reflects her canonical appearance, emphasizing her signature psycho-oculum and power armor. The card was well-received by players for its thematic ability to 'subjugate' opposing creatures, effectively capturing the character's relentless pursuit of heretics within the grimdark setting of the Imperium.
