Leyline of Sanctity

Leyline of Sanctity was originally introduced in the Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2011, designed as part of a cycle of enchantments that allow players to start the game with them on the battlefield if they are in their opening hand. This mechanic was intended to provide proactive disruption against specific strategies, particularly those reliant on targeting players with discard or burn spells. The Modern Masters 2015 version serves as a functional reprint, maintaining the original mechanics while introducing updated art consistent with the aesthetic standards of the modern era of the game.

The illustration for the Modern Masters 2015 printing was provided by artist Volkan Baga. Baga focused on a composition that conveys a sense of ethereal protection and divine stillness, aligning with the card's function of creating a protective barrier around the player. Upon its release in the Masters series, the card was well-received by competitive players who valued its utility in sideboard strategies, as it remains a staple for its unique ability to blank entire archetypes without requiring a mana investment.
