Where it came from
Mage-Ring Network first appeared in the Magic Origins set in 2015, designed as a utility land that reflects the flavor of the Mage-Rings of Vryn, the home plane of the planeswalker Jace Beleren. The design team created the card to offer players a way to bank mana for a significant future surge, embodying the lore-heavy concept of magical conduits that store energy over time.
This specific iteration is from the Ultimate Masters set released in 2018, which served as a premium reprint collection intended to bring sought-after cards back to the market with updated or high-quality aesthetics. The artwork for this release, handled by illustrator Titus Lunter, emphasizes the ethereal, glowing architecture of the rings, focusing on a sense of scale and arcane power that defined the visual language of the original plane.
