Mana Clash

Mana Clash was originally introduced in the 1994 set Limited Edition Alpha, serving as a chaotic, randomized spell rooted in the flavor of red mana. By the time it was reprinted for the Seventh Edition core set in 2001, it had become a recognizable staple of red's unpredictable gameplay philosophy. The Seventh Edition printing is particularly distinct for its shift to the modern card frame, which prioritized legibility and a cleaner aesthetic over the ornate borders of earlier iterations.

The art for this specific printing was rendered by Brian Snoddy, who was a prolific contributor to the game during its formative years. His illustration depicts a visceral, high-stakes magical duel between two wizards, perfectly encapsulating the card's mechanical function of a repeated coin-flip contest. This edition was received by players as a functional reprint that brought a classic, albeit situational, red chaos spell into the contemporary competitive environment of the early 2000s.
