Provenance

Where it came from

Sisay was released in 2022 as part of the Unfinity expansion for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featured as a promotional 'Meet and Greet' card. This set was designed by Wizards of the Coast as a playful, science-fiction-themed entry in their 'Un-' series, which historically explores unconventional mechanics and humor-focused gameplay that exists outside the standard rules of sanctioned tournament formats.

The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Anna Steinbauer, who is well-known for her elegant and ethereal style within the Magic: The Gathering universe. By incorporating Sisay into the retro-futuristic aesthetic of Unfinity, the design team aimed to bridge the gap between serious lore-based characterization and the whimsical, lighthearted tone characteristic of silver-bordered sets.
