Where it came from
Mishra's Foundry was introduced in the 2022 expansion The Brothers' War, a set designed to revisit the foundational lore of Magic: The Gathering. The card represents a strategic, land-based utility piece that honors the industrial aesthetic of Mishra, one of the primary antagonists in the game's early history. It functions as a land that can transform into a construct creature, reflecting the theme of mechanized warfare central to the set's narrative.
The promotional version, numbered 265p, features unique art that emphasizes the gritty, steampunk-inspired construction of the foundry itself. Created to support the set's release through game store events, the design aims to evoke the feeling of ancient, clanking machinery surfacing from the earth. The piece was well-received by players for its balance of utility and thematic resonance, cementing it as a staple for both functional deck building and lore-focused collections.
