Mox Jet

It was designed by Richard Garfield as one of the 'Power Nine,' a group of cards widely considered to be the most powerful in the game's history. These cards were intended to provide significant resource acceleration, allowing players to generate mana faster than the game's standard land-based economy allowed, which ultimately led to their high desirability and eventual restriction in tournament play.

The iconic artwork for the Mox Jet was illustrated by Dan Frazier. His approach featured a minimalist, artifact-focused aesthetic that helped establish the visual language of early Magic: The Gathering cards. The design aimed to convey a sense of ancient, magical relics that were both precious and dangerous.
